Campaign Objectives

This $21 million campaign will build upon the strong legacy of the Christ the King community, so it can continue meeting the needs of parishioners and students for many generations to come.

The campaign objectives will elevate our facilities to better align with the dignity and excellence of the spiritual care and formation we provide. Objectives include:

  • New Academic Building

  • Parish Center Renovations

  • New Church Offices and Courtyard

  • Rectory Renovations

A Note from Father Tony

At Christ the King, we are blessed with an active and growing community of faith. To ensure that we remain a vibrant parish for future generations, we are excited about the Living Faith, Igniting Hearts, Inspiring Minds campaign and what is offers our community. Christ the King Catholic School gains new learning spaces with state-of-the-art technology to develop the minds, hearts, and souls of our students. Remodeling the Parish Center provides flexible space for fellowship and experiencing the love of Christ through our ministries, and the new chapel offers parishioners a sacred space for prayer, reflection, and communion with God. These are just a few examples of how the campaign strengthens our relationship with God, both individually and as a community.

Thank you for your support and commitment to the future of Christ the King. May the Holy Spirit guide us on this journey of faith, generosity, and community.

- Very Rev. Anthony F. Lackland, V.F.

The Moral Beauty of Christian Marriage

“As the family goes, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live.” Pope John Paul II

The foundation of a strong Christian family is a strong Christian marriage. As our society’s value of marriage declines and it’s definition of marriage expands, the parameters of a Christian marriage and its contribution to our holiness and wellbeing have not been diluted.

All adults of the parish are welcome to join Michael “Gomer” Gormley on October 15, from 7:15-8:15pm in the Church following Oratio for a presentation on the Moral Beauty of Christian marriage. You do not need to be married to attend; this presentation will be excellent formation for those single, those in relationships, and even those recovering from broken relationships.

Michael has been leading evangelization and ministry efforts for the past 17 years, both as a full-time parish staff member and as a speaker and consultant for parishes, dioceses, and Catholic campus ministries. He has his Undergraduate Degrees in both Philosophy and Theology and a Masters in Theology and Christian Ministry, from the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

He currently serves as the Mission Evangelist for Paradisus Dei, a ministry dedicated to helping men, couples, and families discover the superabundance of God. Michael is also the founder and creative director of LayEvangelist.com, the co-host to two successful Catholic podcasts: Catching Foxes and Every Knee Shall Bow. He is married to his college sweetheart, Shannon, and they have 4 amazing children and get 3 hours of sleep a night, which is fine by him.

See below for the full “Gomer-a-thon” schedule.

3 Crucial Dating & Relating Conversations to Have with Your Teen

3 Crucial Dating & Relating Conversations to Have with Your Teen

It’s not easy raising teens in an environment so very different from the one in which many of us grew up. When it comes to preparing your children for romantic relationships, there’s an entirely different set of norms (or perhaps, a lack there of) surrounding dating culture and a lapse in the application of Christian values to dating. When it comes to managing screen time, there’s an omnipresence of harmful technology that’s been linked to addiction, pornography exposure, and online bullying. And when it comes to tough topics, often shame when we make mistakes and a desire not to have conflict lead us to stay quiet rather than engage in dialogue.

There are some conversations that you, as parents, need to have with your children. And it’s never too late, even if you think the ship has sailed. Let your Church help.

Michael “Gomer” Gormley will be joining our parish on October 15 for a “Gomer-a-thon” of several presentations (see below), one including “3 Crucial Dating & Relating Conversations to Have with Your Teen”, held at 5-6pm in the Parish Center. The talk is for teens (grades 7-12) to attend together with at least one parent. The talk will prepare your family up to have these 3 conversations when you return home by offering some areas of consideration based on then plan of holiness God has for your family.

This presentation will be an incredible resource to prepare your children for love; protect them against harmful realities such as screen addiction, pornography, and bullying; and deepen their relationship with a merciful God. You do not want to miss this.

Please RSVP your family by the end of the day on October 11.

Church Tour

The families of CTK are invited to join a 30-minute kid-friendly church tour of our beautiful Christ the King church building on Sunday, September 22 from 4:15-4:45pm.

Christ the King is known for having a strikingly beautiful worship space. Every statue, every window, every architectural detail was intentionally designed to aid our worship and to glorify God.

Mrs. Laura Lynch, who serves in several roles including our parish’s Safe Environment Coordinator, school substitute, and Faith Formation catechist, will be providing a church tour in which she highlights some of the key elements of the worship space, explaining its significance. This church tour will open your eyes to things you’ve never noticed before and your experience of Mass will forever be different.

There is no RSVP, please just come to the church.

Youth Family of Faith- Safe Environment Training for 7th-12th Graders

The Youth Family of Faith Training was developed by CTK Staff. It is noted by the diocesan Safe Environment office as an excellent option for the required "safe touching" program, as it integrates abuse prevention content with the Code of Conduct.

In order to be eligible to volunteer for programs offered by the Faith Formation Team at CTK, 7th-12th graders must:

1. Attend a Youth Family of Faith Training (only required once, unless there is a particular reason youth is asked to re-train)
2. Sign the Code of Conduct, offered electronically (required every year)
3. Attend any role-specific training offered by the program coordinator

The next training is September 7, from 10am - 12pm in the Youth Room.

Register for the September 7 YFOF Training Here: https://ctk8017.breezechms.com/form/yfof9724

What is Vacation Bible School? Take kids deep into an amazing undersea adventure where they’ll experience the ever-flowing, never-ending love of God. At Scuba VBS, kids will be immersed in the Word and discover what living water is really all about! The children have an opportunity to experience the joy of community among their peers while exploring their faith through song and dance, indoor and outdoor activities, and of course, a little snack.

What is FAST? FAST stands for Faith and Service Tour. Each day we start off with a Bible/Catholic Tradition Sound Bite and then go on a different community service field trip via school bus service. Some of the agencies we will visit: St. Joseph's Residence, St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities, Brother Bill's and North Texas Food Bank where we will do a service project.

Please note that we’ve made some changes to the program ages. VBS is open for Pre-K 3 through 4th Grade and CTK FAST is open for 5th through 8th Grade.

Adult & High School volunteers are needed to assist both programs and truly make it “the week you don’t want to miss”.

Please be diligent in completing your items as quickly as possible.

All VBS & CTK FAST adult & High School Volunteers are asked to attend an orientation on June 9th following the 12:30pm Mass, in the Community Center. At this time, you will receive more specific instruction on your volunteer role, the schedule for the week, and pick up your t-shirts.

Dear Christ the King Family,

It is with heavy heart that I inform you of the death of Deacon John Paul Kelly, who passed away earlier this week while on vacation with his wife, Janet, in Portugal. Deacon Kelly was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 1992 by Bishop Grahmann, and served faithfully at Christ the King for many years.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced.

Please keep Deacon Kelly, his wife Janet, their children Shannon and Keegan and family in your prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto Deacon John Paul Kelly, O Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon him.  May he and all the faithful departed rest in peace.  Amen.
